Around midday on Monday, Liz would actually be receiving a phone call from Prompto, instead of just a test.

(She'd get one of those, too, later, because Prompto was pretty sure schmoopy evening check-in texts were going to be a thing until he didn't need to text her anymore because she was there with him, but for now? A call).

So...ring, ring! Or whatever other sound Liz's phone made with an incoming call.

Liz smiled when she saw her phone ring and and who it was from and immediately went to answer it, “hi," she said,, even though she did she had enjoyed texting Prompto these last couple of days it was nice to be able to talk to him as well.

Marc left the following voicemail: "Liz. Steven told me about the thing. I'm in. When do you want to do it? We can do any day this week except Wed because that's bad for the mun. Let me know."

Getting Marc’s message, especially after her conversation with Summer that morning definitely made her feel even more guilty about everything.

She took a deep breath and rang him back, “Hi…um hi Marc, I’m …” so sorry she nearly said instead but calmed herself down, “it’s Liz, I’m returning your call, that’s great would ….um….Thursday afternoon or evening work for you and Steven?” she hesitated, “um…if not I could do Friday instead, okay thanksbye,” it came out in a more awkward rush than she intended.

Marc listened to radio so it wasn't long after he heard the day's broadcast that Liz got a text from him.

You moved in with your shrink? You ok?

Liz got Marc’s message and felt guilty that she hadn’t let him know about moving in with Dr. Lecter.

I’m okay, well as okay as I can be. Dr. Lecter was concerned about me being on my own, especially looking after myself and he’s changing my medication so he wants to monitor how that goes she wrote It might be a rough few weeks when that happens though

On Saturday morning of the 20 year reunion, there was a text from Marc: Island's acting fucked. Are you ok?

Of course whether or not any version of her got that in a timely manner was up to the whims of fate.

Liz got the message, read it and realised why these reunions could be a problem for Steven and Marc.

She decided it was probably better if she rang Marc instead so she started to call him.

Early Monday morning there was a text from Marc.

I'll come by later. Don't do anything stupid.

Steven heard the radio broadcast with excitement. He wanted to call Liz immediately to make certain it was true. Then he realized with all Liz and Prompto had to catch up on a phone call would be an interruption. He decided to text instead.

Is it true about Prompto? Radio's not having a laugh, is it? Liz, that's amazing! I can't wait to hear everything. In your own time of course. So happy for you.

It was much later that afternoon when Liz finally did reply.

it’s all true. I still can’t believe that he’s here and I’m with him. I thought I was dreaming everything yesterday but he’s still here!

Not too long after Steven's text about Prompto came one from Marc.

Liz smiled as she replied to Marc’s message after Steven’s.

Thank you. I still can’t quite believe that he’s here, I’m still expecting to wake up and find it’s all a dream

Friday, September 16, mid afternoon

Hi, Liz. This is Nell Ingram. Not sure if you even still remember me after all these years or if you still visit Fandom anymore, but I've made it back to Fandom. I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep in touch, but I'd love to hear from you sometime and I'd love to hear about your little girl. She must be so big now!

I’m so sorry It took so long to reply. It’s so good to hear from you. I - I don’t know if anyone has told you but Prompto’s back, he now knows about the baby!

There was another pause and she added how long has it been for you ?

Sometime on October 12, 2022, Liz would've gotten a postcard in the mail. It had a picture of houses along the riverfront in Porto, Portugal. On it was written:

Didn't take this myself but being by the water reminded me of our lesson. Taking loads of photos. Can't wait to show you. Hope you and Prompto and the little one are all right and Jordie and Ellis aren't being a bother.

It was signed by Steven and, in clearly different handwriting, Watts.

At some point early in the day on Friday, Liz would receive a text from Prompto:

Hey babe, wanna be an avocado for Halloween?

Followed, of course, by a picture.

Liz had been getting some last minute work done before she started planning for lunch and stopping by the store to visit Prompto when she got his text and smiled when she saw the picture.

I actually haven’t even thought about halloween this year she wrote back but I love that costume. Do you think I could pull off being an avocado?

On Friday 11/4/2022 a text came in.

Heard you're doing poorly. Hope it's not too bad. Let us know if you need anything.

Liz saw the message much later since the mun’s away at a con and managed to send a reply.

I will, thank you. I’m just rather tired and achy but Prompto’s taking really good care of me. I’m resting the rest of this week but hopefully will be well enough to be out and about next week

A text came in from Steven:

Just heard radio. You're engaged? That's wonderful! Congratulations to you both! Marc and I are both thrilled. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Thank you, it happened on Thanksgiving, I still can’t quite believe it but I’m so happy he did, you’ll be able to see the ring when I next see you :)

On Sunday, February 26, 2023, after Steven was back in Fandom and had time to catch up on the news, a text came in for Liz:

Heard on radio the little one is here! Congratulations! Noctra, is it? Lovely name.

Sorry I didn't say it when the report went out. Only just back from holiday. Of course we hope you're all well. Healthy. Don't worry about us. Needing to reply or anything like that. You're busy with family. As it should be. We understand.

Steven debated if he should add anything else or if he was already overstepping during such an important time. Then he figured he may as well throw in one last thought so he wouldn't need to bother Liz again.

I'm happy for you.

It took Liz a little bit longer to reply than it normally would since her sleeping schedule was a little out of whack between Noctra’s feeding and sleeping but when she checked her phone and saw Steven’s message, she did stop to respond.

Thank you, her name’s Noctra Elizabeth Argentum and she was born on Valentine’s Day. I know it’s been a while since we last talked, I didn’t mean to let so much time pass, it’s so nice to hear from you. I hope your holiday went well. It’s been pretty quiet since most of the school went on the trip but it’s nice being able to just spend time with Noctra and Prompto


And then there was of course a photo, well several photos really of Noctra, who had Liz’s dark hair and Prompto’s blue eyes.

It felt so strange to think that an entire year ago Steven had wondered if he could send Liz a message on her birthday or if it was better not to make contact. Strange, but good to think of then and compare it to how much better things were now.

He texted her. Happy birthday. I hope you have a wonderful one with your family.

It took a little bit later for Liz to respond but she did send a message, she couldn’t believe at just how much of a difference a year made and how different things had been last year but she was glad she and Steven had been able to remain good friends.

Thank you, it’s been a lovely day, Prompto and I are going out for dinner later when he finishes work
