(She'd get one of those, too, later, because Prompto was pretty sure schmoopy evening check-in texts were going to be a thing until he didn't need to text her anymore because she was there with him, but for now? A call).
So...ring, ring! Or whatever other sound Liz's phone made with an incoming call.

Yeah, texting was nice and all, buuut...
"Oh, man," there was a contented sigh in Prompto's words, "it is so good to hear your voice again."
You know. All...one syllable of it so far! But that just went to show how nice it really was!

With that, Prompto looked out over the ocean, thought about the big city waiting for them at the other side, and grinned faintly.
"Hey," he added, "guess what we're doing right now."

Prompto, it had been two nights, calm down.
"But no," he said again, grinning happily into the phone. "We're fishing. Well, Noct is fishing. Or at least trying to..."
"Maybe I'd be able to catch more fish," Noctis countered mildly, as he cast another line out into the water, "if someone's loud phone call wasn't scaring them all away."
To that, Prompto chuckled. "Uh huh, sure," he said. "Keep telling yourself that, buddy."

"And yeah." Another sigh, this one happy and contented, almost as he looked around at the beauty of the place again. "The rest of Leide is so dry and dusty that this is a nice change of pace. Even if the monsters on this side of the mountains are huuuuuge! You should have seen this bird we found earlier, that thing was like half bird, half storm, half airship! And these crabs by the Haven, like, even Sidon would have been dwarfed by those guys!"

But they were still close enough to hear, prowling around out there in the darkness, and honestly, if it weren't for the fact that they were all together, Prompto probably wouldn't have even been able to sleep through that first night at all because of it.

It was too bad he couldn't just...portal her here through the phone or something. They could sit on the beach, watch the sunset over the ocean...
Aaaaand there was another wistful sigh. With probably many more to still come.

And to think, this was going to wind up being the easy part of his week, too!

You just had to say that didn’t you Liz.
