Although there was a bit of a chill in the air, the wintry day was not that bad for a little wedding, and even the clouds in the sky seemed to clear in the sky for the event. Tucked away on a quiet hill, surrounded by trees, the historic Dahlgren Chapel exuded not only quaint tradition, but undeniable privacy for the bride and groom and their friends and collected family.

The small church itself was…tastefully!...decked out in most black and red, with splashes of the occasional white to keep it from being a little too Hot Topic goth-y, in a way that very intentionally meant to be a reflection of Liz's engagement ring.

And, so, with no Fandom Weirdness^™ to get in the way this time, the day was finally here for a small little wedding several months/ten years in the making.

Dwight was definitely there, he wouldn't have missed it for anything. The suit was his usual snazzy burgundy one he wore when a suit was needed. So, with camera in hand, Dwight made his way in, hoping he could get some good shots for Liz and Prompto at least.

"Dwight, hello," Steven said when he saw him. "Lovely day for a wedding, isn't it?"

"Steven, hello," Dwight said with a nod and smile. "Don't think they could have asked for a more perfect day, really. How are you doing?"

"Well, thank you," Steven said. "Happy for Liz and Prompto now that their big day is here. Hopefully it all goes well. No problems or anything."

Steven wasn't trying to jinx it, just it was a Fandom related wedding so you could never be too sure.

Yes, never could be too careful when Fandom Island was involved, that was for sure!

"Well if nothing else, we are at least off the island, so that will hopefully serve as a bit of a buffer..." maybe, hopefully, probably... "It's looking to be a great ceremony in any regard."

"Everything looks amazing," Steven said. "You can always tell when Summer's had a hand in an event. Not just because there's jellies."

Which they wouldn't know for sure until the reception but it stood to reason there would be.

"Have you met any of Liz's off island friends before?" Steven asked. "I know some made it to the last Visitor's Weekend."

Summer's special touch was all over things for sure.

"I've heard about them but have yet to meet them. Might have to make some time at the reception to make the rounds a bit."

"Don't be put off by how some look different," Steven said. "They're nice as can be. Well, ones I've met anyway. Might be ones here I don't know."

"So more Prince Sidon and Kurt Wagner end of things," Dwight said with a nod. "Thanks for the head's up. Had some weirdness back home in Haven, but most at least looked fairly normal, but the island has a way of teaching ya to be open-minded."

"That's true, isn't it?" Steven said. It was certainly something he was counting on as he and Marc were more open about themselves. "I think one of the best parts of the island is how generally people are kind and open minded. Usually willing to welcome new people and make friends no matter what they're like or where they're from. Part of why I like living there."

"Gotta agree with you there. Haven was pretty divided half and half, so we always had issues cropping up here and there. But the island has been surprisingly calm in comparison for the most part."

"Half and half meaning how often issues happened?" Steven asked. "Or meaning how many people in town they happened to?"

"About half and half on those who were Troubled and those who weren't... those who were ok or at least understanding with those of us who were Troubled and those who wanted to run us out of town or worse."

Haven was supposed to live up to its name, but usually didn't.

So you learn to have thought skin and keep your head on a swivel in a way. That was a big part of why I was the town cleaner and fixer. Fancy term for coverup and damage control."

"That's horrible," Steven said. "I mean I can understand people being worried about danger, but that's all the more reason to want to help, isn't it?"

Which was a good chunk of Steven's life philosophy in a nutshell, right there.

"That's how I and a few others felt." So good life philosophy there. "But when people get it into their heads that the Troubles are a curse from god and all that..." Dwight gave a shrug. "So compared to that, Fandom is a nice change for sure."

"Gods can be horrible at times," Steven said, since that one was sadly undeniable. "But in the end it's up to us individually to what's right. Help people keep from being hurt or hurting others. I know it can't have been easy but it's good you were able to see past people's fear and still want to do the right thing."
