The Sherman-Argentum Wedding; Dahlgren Chapel, Middletown, MD; Friday Afternoon [01/06].

Although there was a bit of a chill in the air, the wintry day was not that bad for a little wedding, and even the clouds in the sky seemed to clear in the sky for the event. Tucked away on a quiet hill, surrounded by trees, the historic Dahlgren Chapel exuded not only quaint tradition, but undeniable privacy for the bride and groom and their friends and collected family.

The small church itself was…tastefully!...decked out in most black and red, with splashes of the occasional white to keep it from being a little too Hot Topic goth-y, in a way that very intentionally meant to be a reflection of Liz's engagement ring.

And, so, with no Fandom Weirdness to get in the way this time, the day was finally here for a small little wedding several months/ten years in the making.

[[ open wedding is open! Please, please, please feel free to mod an invite if you'd like to attend, because we have both had A WEEK and have not had much brain, but the more, the merrier! It's a small wedding, but not that small! ]]

"It was kind of them to give options," Steven said, regarding the food. "Of course no real surprise there, Summer and Liz doing the planning."

Which was no slight towards Prompto. It was Steven's understanding that the two women had handled the details.

Well the narrative had seemed to imply that Prompto had no shortage of Opinions regarding the wedding so it's entirely possible he'd been more involved than either Steven or Watts thought. But of course neither of them could read narrative so Steven's statement was a completely reasonable assumption.

"Neither of them seem like the sort of person who'd let anyone go hungry," Watts agreed with a nod.

"The two of them look happy," Steven said, looking towards the newlyweds. "Liz and Prompto, I mean."

“They do at that,” Watts agreed, reaching over to take hold of Steven’s hand and thread their fingers together.

Look, he’d seen how Annie and Diego’s wedding had affected Steven, and this one had an added layer of- well.

Steven was thrilled for Liz and Prompto. He genuinely was. He had only ever wanted Liz to be happy and that day, marrying the man she loved with their child on the way, was what he knew Liz wanted.

But of course that, and weddings in general, did remind Steven of all he couldn't offer to a partner. So yes, there was sadness underneath it as well.

But Steven refused to let even a hint of that show and distract from the joy of the occasion.

He just might subtly cling to Llewellyn's hand to silently let him know how much he appreciated Llewellyn's insight and understanding.

"It's nice they found a venue where her friends from home could attend as well without drawing undue attention," Watts commented.

"Agreed," Steven said. "I know it would've been awful all around if Hellboy couldn't join, close as he and Liz are. Maybe they think they're performers of some kind?"

Watts hadn't actually seen anyone beyond the officiant who wasn't clearly a guest, so he suspected part of it was also keeping the number of outsiders to a minimum. "Either that or perhaps they've dealt with folks from Fandom before," he pointed out. After all, both Sidon and Kurt were also in attendance.

"That's possible," Steven said. "Also handy. Wonder if there's other places around like that? Be good for people like Stark as well. I know he gets self conscious about his mask when he's off island."

"I'm sure there must be," Watts said. "There may even be entire Earths where we are the odd ones out," he said, recalling some of their conversation from yesterday.

"To say nothing of all the planets out there," Steven agreed. "I know of the ones who came to Earth - ours? Back home? Not all of them look the way we do. Different colors and shapes and things."

Talking raccoons, even.
