The Apartment Above the Photo Hut - Sunday Morning

Liz had woken up much earlier than normal and couldn’t get back to sleep, so she decided to get a head start on breakfast for her and Prompto and that was when she noticed that she seemed to be wearing a Santa Hat and sure enough, just like last year, she took it off and another one reappeared.

She went and fed Rain, who spotted that Liz was carrying a Santa hat was immediately delighted that the hats were back, despite the collection she had received from last year.

Once Rain was fed and was happily playing in the corner with her new collection of hats, Liz stood in the kitchen for a bit and tried to decide what she felt like making for breakfast, she was feeling pretty hungry and so she decided to start making bacon and eggs and pancakes as well.

Prompto, meanwhile, had definitely been sleeping in. Sunday was one of the days off from training, and he had a gig on the mainland that afternoon, and he hadn't slept well, either, thanks to another nightmare. They seemed to be getting worse, no doubt fueled by nerves and anxiety about the wedding, about the baby, about being back, about...everything. But so long as they didn't get to a problem where they bother Liz, it should be fine, right? The nightmares weren't anything new, after all, he'd had them ever since Niflheim, but he had to admit, they only really started getting bad since he git back.

Since he actually had something to lose again...

But he did, eventually, fall back into a dreamless sleep, and there he might have remained well toward noon if not for his stomach rebelling as soon as the smells of breakfast started to waft throughout the apartment.

Which was why you now had a very sleepy fiancé shuffling up into the kitchen and really hoping you weren't in the middle of something important, Liz, because he was just going to wrap his arms around her from behind for a hug, and nuzzle into her for a moment.

It was meant to be mostly light and playful, but, coming out of last night's dreams, it was probably just a little more clingy than just that.

"That smells awesome," he murmured. "Can I help?"

"Of course you are," Prompto chuckled a little, just sort of lingering there for a moment, and if that meant the first pancake was going to be a little burned on one side, then so be it! He'd happily take that sacrifice! "You've been having to share all your food, and I think she's hungrier than all of us. I can definitely take over pancake duty, though."

He went to kiss Liz's cheek, and then her shoulder, which knocked the Santa hat he had only just now realized was a thing askew, and he laughed a little, drawing away from her finally and adjusting it a little.

"Oh, hey! It's the hat day!"

"Another thing to make room for on the farm, I guess," Prompto noted with a grin. "All of Rain's Santa hats."

Then he remembered something else about the hats and stopped fussing with the one on his head to just take it off, instead. Lifting his eyes toward his head, he put up a hand to feel as the next one popped into place with a chuckle.

And then he reached over to the same thing with Liz's hat.

"...heh."

A grown-ass adult man, ladies and gentlemen, about to be half-responsible for a small human.

He was so easily amused, and he was kind of tempted to do it again, but the smell of the pancakes really starting to burn caught his attention and sharply reminded him that there were other things that might demand more attention than never-ending hat replacements.

"Oh, shit," he started, reaching for a spatula to turn over the pancakes, which weren't as black as he was worried they might be, but they weren't exactly pretty either.

"I guess these ones are mine....and forget just a room, she'll have her own stable. Rain's Santa hat stable."
