The Apartment Above the Photo Hut - Friday Morning

The last week had been a lot since she had discovered that she was pregnant. First she had called Dr. Lecter to let him know and then she had talked to both Marcand Summer.

Finally Liz had let Professor Broom and Hellboy know that she was pregnant. She hadn’t even gotten the words out before Hellboy had immediately started insisting that she not go back to Fandom, that she could stay at the BPRD, especially if they couldn’t reach Prompto and it had taken a lot of convincing but finally Liz had managed to convince them that she would be fine in Fandom and she did have support and friends who would look after her.

As Liz had promised, she and Rain had gotten back into Fandom early Friday morning. It felt weird being back at her apartment and the store and she didn’t want to think about how much work she now had to finish both in terms of the paperwork and all of the necessary plans she still had to make regarding her pregnancy but she was slowly learning that she could only do one thing at a time and to focus on what she could.

So now that she was back she had to make a few calls and the first one was to Steven, since she had promised Marc that she would tell Steven as soon as she got back to Fandom and then she figured she should leave Marc a voice mail as well to let him know that she was back and would be talking to Steven in case he was concerned she wouldn’t tell him.

She hesitated a moment and then sent a quick text message to Summer to let her know that she had arrived back in Fandom.

The last call was to Dr. Lecter so that he would know she was back in Fandom and then once those calls had been done, she went about unpacking as she nervously waited to see if Steven would stop by.

Steven wanted to reassure her that Prompto would be but he had no way of knowing that. He didn't want to make her feel worse by inadvertently reminding her of how nebulous that part of her future was. So instead he asked, "Have you had a chance to be happy about her? Say hello? Let her know her mum is looking out for her?"

"I ... I haven't done that yet," Liz admitted, "it ... it still feels all surreal at the moment, I mean, I know I'm pregnant ... that she's real and growing inside me but I haven't ... really properly processed that yet," she said softly.

Steven gave her hand a squeeze. "Do you think you might? Doesn't have to be now but... it is still good, isn't it?"

"I ...I think so," Liz took a deep breath, "I mean, now that I'm back here, I don't feel so overwhelmed, with everything," she added softly, "but I ... I can try talking to her, see how that goes,"

"You did nothing wrong, Liz," Steven said. He tilted his head to try to look her in the eyes. "It's all right that you're overwhelmed, and scared. But it's also all right for you to be happy. You don't have to feel guilty that she's here."

"I just - " Liz bit her lip and nodded, "I just can't help but worry - I mean I'm not exactly in a stable frame of mind right now and what if she has my powers? I don't ... I'm scared she'll have the same trouble that I did," she sighed, "but at the same time, she's Prompto's - she's my link to him and I'm happy that I have her, that I'm carrying her ..it's like he's he here with me through her,"

"But if she does have that trouble, who better to be there for her than you?" Steven pointed out. "Someone who knows how hard it can be, and who knows what she needs? She's lucky to have you."

"I guess," Liz said softly, "I mean I'm still learning to control my powers but I - I suppose I could help her learn how to control hers, especially since I can help her understand what they are and that she doesn't have to be afraid of them like I was,"

"And I don't mean to jinx things," Steven said. "But I notice you haven't mentioned losing control since all of this happened. So who's come a long way then? You."

Liz managed a small smile at that, “that’s true, I - I haven’t lost control, even with all of these changes and the amount of crying I’ve done - I haven’t lost control of my powers,”

"You're stronger than you give yourself credit for," Steven said. He squeezed her hand to reinforce what he was saying. "It's so much you're being asked to take on right now. It is. But I daresay you're doing very well with it."

Liz took a deep breath, feeling comforted by that hand squeeze, "thank you," she said softly, "it helps, knowing that I have friends who are looking out for me and who will help me get through it, I don't feel so alone," she admitted.

"Of course we'll help," Steven said. "You're not alone. And I don't just mean in that you've got an extra someone with you now."

It was a small joke but hopefully one she wouldn't mind.

Liz did smile at that, not minding the joke, “that’s true, I'm not going to be alone am I? Especially for the next seven months,"

"We'll have to be on best behavior," Steven said. "No swearing or the like or she'll learn all sorts of bad habits."

"That's definitely going to have to something to look out for isn't it?" Liz was going to have to start looking at how to parenting books and everything, she really had no idea what she was doing, "there's so many things I have to prepare for, I know I can only do one task at a time but it can get rather overwhelming when I think about what I have to do,"

"I know what that's like," Steven said. "The overwhelming part, I mean. What can I do to help you with that?"

"I ... I still need to make a list of everything I need to do," Liz admitted, "I - Summer said I shouldn't wait for Prompto, to get started on the preparations I - would like him to be here, to be involved in some of the planning but I - I don't know when I'll see him next," she couldn't bring herself to say if she saw him, she desperately wanted to believe that he would come back, "I - I'd like it if you could be here though, um ... " her voice trialed off uncertainly, "I know I'm asking for a lot, especially with everything but even knowing you're here to support me will be enough,"

"Of course I will," Steven said, without hesitation. "Whatever you need. Marc will as well."

Especially if the time came that what Liz needed was help moving furniture into a nursery. That was absolutely more of a Marc thing, in Steven's opinion.

"Thank you," Liz said softly, tears building in her eyes again as she wiped them away, "I'm - I'm going to be looking at working on new projects for the nursery as well, trying to take up arts & crafts as part of my therapy, to keep me focused," she paused, "I might even be looking into making my own crib," she revealed, "I have to speak to Amaya about it though to see if its doable,"

"That sounds lovely," Steven said. "That'd make it a proper heirloom too."

Steven was going to add a comment to the effect of how Liz could use it for future children but realized maybe she had enough on her mind thinking about the one arriving in February.
